Photography is Like the Art of Capturing Life.

Why we pick the topic of photography out of creative multimedia? Photography is the process, activity and art of creating still or moving pictures by recording radiation on a sensitive medium, such as a photographic film, or an electronic sensor. In FCM, we were learned to discover a new form of creativity in a medium called photography. Creativity is the process of involving the new idea or concept while multimedia is relating to the combination of various media. We can deliver our creativity through the shoot of the camera which we define here in our statement, “Photography is like the Art of Capturing Life”

Nowadays, photography becomes more familiar with our life. For photographer, they are always polishing their photography skills to maintain and succeed their career. Photography is also giving a big impact to the students. For example, FCM students are given assignment based on photography and each of them must have their own camera especially DSLR. Lecturers ask them to take a picture from different angle so that the picture becomes more interesting. At this moment students are become stressed of their assignment and have to think out of the box for getting a new idea. All students wanted to produce the best artwork which give a new significant to the photo. By the emotion and expression in the picture, the story can be told by itself.

Che Mat always mentioned, when capture a picture, never see things as an object that we know. For example, if we try to make a leading line in a composition of a picture, we must see the long branch from the tree as a line that go through to the main subject. It will automatically drive our eyes to the main subject. Not only that, shape and pattern, silhouette, foreground frame, reflection, and shadow really help in enhance creativity in a picture. An eye level of a picture with a single person in the middle of huge building is really a boring shoot. Since we have been thought this way, our eyes are not normal as before. Our brain keep composing picture with the elements in the surrounding. I think that’s make creative people outstanding than normal people.

Apart from the photography, the most important things about the photography are the composition of the picture itself. One thing we can do about the photography is following the rule of third. Rule of Thirds is not really necessarily a rule, as much as it is a suggestion that tends to add more tension, energy, boring, happiness, sad and interest or even anger into the photo. Besides, the composition of the angle captured is the serious matter either it was taken from down or high from the talent or object, the picture will look very nice and attractive compared to the eye viewed angle capture.

An aperture is a hole or an opening through which light travels. The aperture stop of a photographic lens can be adjusted to control the amount of light reaching the film or image sensor. The more we know about the aperture the better artwork that we produce. Using aperture is to give more impact to the picture. The picture will become blur and very sharp on the focus point. Many things that can explore by play with the aperture.

As for the shutter of the each camera, we can set it for slow shutter or fast click shutter. The shutter is used for capturing the moving object such as athlete running on the track, butterfly start to fly through and etc.
Basically, people will edit the picture with Adobe Photoshop to give more effects on it. They can play with the colors, crop, and etc.

Other than that, many types of income come from photography for example becoming a great photographer, model, and for successful photographer basically most of them open their own studio. Our graduated senior who is known as Saiful Nang, are popular among marriage couple. His WeddingKami website always got high booking and people tend to hire him as official photographer in their weddings and certain occasion.

For the professional photographer, they often asked for the candid picture or still picture for the wedding, graduation or an event such as birthday party and etc. The picture taken will be more meaningful and nice story for the picture itself. The photography will be taken on action for either small or big of the event. Memories will never fade away as the picture is.

Therefore, we know that photography teach us how to learn more about producing an art, being more creative and think out of the box. When applying the skills of photography, the outcome will be our irreplaceable memories. Hence, novelty, creativity, innovation and invention of photography are like circle which keep rotating and it apply effectively in our daily life.

Reference for our topic is mainly from our friends, Muhammad Syafiq ‘Izzat who is a freelance photographer. It is preferably to get the information based on his thought as he has more experience about photography rather than search on the internet without knowing the truth of the story. Reflection on the lecture class week 10

Another lecture by Mr.Radzi Bedu. This week, we draw a cigarette based on traffic light's mind map. We must show the bad effect and how harmful the cigarette is through our drawing and make sure that the smokers will stop smoking. I can see that some of my friend's drawing are quite funny and interesting. Even though some of the idea are too crazy and disgusting (yes,it's really disgusting =.=) but we really had fun do our exercise. XD

Reflection on the lecture class week 9

On week 9 lecture class..it was the weird exercise that i had been through under Mr. Radzi Bedu session. All of us do the activity for the topic juxtaposition. It's really fun to draw the weird animals and situation based on the combination words that we get. I would say that we all think out of the box for this exercise. And the most embarrassing part was to let Mr. Radzi read my concept of love by using Chili. I'm not really used to write something romantic like that and yet let the others read it. T__T But Mr.Radzi said that people can even earn money for writing all this stuff. Haha. From my observation, I can say that all of us really enjoyed for this week session.

Reflection on the lecture class week 7 and 8

This week, our class was conducted by Miss Tasha. For both week, she teach us about juxtaposition. It's a bit confusing for me for a first time but things get better when she explained about it especially about simile,metaphor and so on. It's like a literature. Haha. From my observation,this ad shows that a businessman need a bigger opportunity to expand their growing business. And it can be done by making it online! (access in web hosting) Hence the situation was compared to the goldfish in the small aquarium.

Reflection on the lecture class week 3 & 4

It must be weird for me to make 2 reflection class in one post. How ever, i have nothing much to say about our previous class as our lecturer are teaching us as usual. During week 3, Mr. Mustafa Muzer teach us about novelty,creativity,innovation and invention. While on week 4, he teach us about Logical Mind Map. From my observation, he likes to show us some conference from TED. Well, even though their speech kind of boring but it gives many feedback about certain issue. One of the speech that attract my attentions is about the invention of pre-mature baby body comforter(something like that). The invention is really simple but its saves many lives! I hope he can show us more about this clip.

Logical Mind Map

Mind map was introduced by Tony Buzen. It is a great tool for idea generation and brainstorming. A creative mind map is able to stimulate and to create interest to the individual and also to the viewer.

Maximize the power of your brain by doing mind mapping. Since I am do my Design Fundamental (Alpha year) Che Mat always asked us to do creative mind map. Sometimes, it's really troublesome as we need to pour our creativity on at least 15 pages of A3 papers. But i believe mind map can help us to understand the information much better. Mind map is like a graphical notes. It's branches bring our eyes to every answer. The images which used in it is easy to understand. The color also play an important role in highlighting the main points or keywords in mind map. It is fact that our brain cells can store more memory or information by using colors in mind map. It makes our learning process more enjoyable. Furthermore, it enhance our idea and bring us to a great problem solving.

Mind maps can be used for:-

* Problem Solving
* Outline / Framework Design
* Anonymous collaboration.
* Marriage of words and visuals.
* Individual expression of creativity.
* Condensing material into a concise and memorable format.
* Team building or synergy creating activity.
* Enhancing work morale.

Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention

Novelty: The quality of being new and fresh and interesting. (as modifier)
When talk about novelty, we can't resist every item which comes from Apple. And now, they bring a new phenomena with a large Multi-Touch screen device known as iPad. As we know, iPad is like a computer which has been 'smack' to be thin, light, compact rectangle shape, smart device which we can do everything we want in our own palm. We can bring it all along it like a notebook but it is digital. What else can we ask from this kind of invention? Maybe 3 to 4 years in the future..the big,bulk PC are not use anymore.

Creativity: Creativity is a mental and social process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts.

Store’s main staircase was presented as a chest of drawers, with everything inside neatly organized. This is CREATIVE. I can say that IKEA is like Home of Creative Department when it comes to design.

Innovation: The act of introducing something new.

I believe that innovation can be something that is already invented but we bring the idea to a higher level. Such like this shoes. Maybe some of you of don't even recognize it as a shoes until it being told that it is a shoes.

Invention: A creation (a new device or process) resulting from study and experimentation.

Invention can be many thing involve around us. A simple invention like clips can be a great creation as it make our task more easy.

Hence, novelty, creativity, innovation and invention are like circle which keep rotating and it apply effectively in our daily life.

Reflection on the lecture class week 2

On week 2 class..we all having lecture about creative thinking with Mr. Yap Sau Bin. He is really something. I can see his enthusiasm when he giving lecture to us especially when he asked us to imagine something creative about the metal rod that he keep playing for a while. Well..when he asked our opinions about the metal rod, i am quite nervous because i am a bit blur that time. But when hear all my friends opinion, it's quite interesting. However, i hope that our lecturer can show us more movie like our previous MLC class during Alpha year. yeah!!

Creative Thinking

This is our first task for blogging. To elaborate about the creative thinking. "Creative thinking is a looking at problems or situations from a fresh perspective that suggests unorthodox solutions (which may look unsettling at first). Creative thinking can be stimulated both by a freewheeling (unstructured) process such as brainstorming, and by a step by step (structured) process such as lateral thinking."

Since i came to MMU, i was teach by my lecturer to think differently and look things in different side of view. For example, when i stare at stars..I can imagine many things from the formation of that stars. Sometimes it can be a perfect arrow, a face or probably a perfect rectangle. But the best part is the formation of clouds. I really like watching all this thing as my imagination running wildly,thinking what it is. When it comes to problem solving, it will be quite tough for me to think creatively. Especially when to do the assignments. The idea will not pop out easily. All I have to do is make a brainstorming with my friends, do some research and take a walk to find inspiration. This is the website which i found really interesting: www.toxel.com
